I received my Bachelors in Social Work at NYU and my Masters in Social Work at Salem State University. In addition to my degrees, I've completed a 3-year post-graduate certification from the Gestalt Training Institute of Philadelphia and was certified as a Mindful Outdoor Guide through the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership. I worked for many years on interdisciplinary mental health outreach teams and in crisis support, as a Hospice and Palliative Care Social Worker, in shelter-based case management, and for a local land trust. All have shaped my worldview and lead me to the deep respect and empathy I hold for people and all life on earth.
I believe that healing is not just about being happy. It's about growing into your ability to turn toward yourself with love and compassion--no matter what--and having the courage to step into your own precious life as your singular self. This work can be painful and sometimes even feels impossible when we've been through trauma that has left us feeling small, broken, empty, hurt, and hopeless. But as we go, we see that this work brings contentment, freedom, embodiment, and even joy. I work relationally and draw on somatic awareness-building, strengths perspective, narrative therapy, and many other modalities to get the right fit for what we're trying to do.
I also love supervising MSW students from SUNY Albany, leading Mindful Nature Walks in beautiful places, and occasionally teaching continuing education classes on nature-connected therapy perspectives at universities and training institutes.
